Our newly refurbished visitor centre (in the former Beachy Head Story) is just the starting point for a great day out on Beachy Head near Eastbourne. Start your visit with us and learn all about the amazing landscape around us, before heading out to explore Beachy Head and the South Downs National Park with our digital trails app to guide you.

Lighthouses, Landscapes & Legends is our permanent exhibition, including the Beachy Head Model, Flight Over Beachy Head, and the Interactive Gallery.

The Beachy Head Model

Begin your experience with a visit to the model room and watch the formation of the famous white cliffs unfold, learn about the history of the lighthouses and uncover the World War 2 and Cold War secrets lying right under the headland. The unique audio-visual presentation is projected directly onto a huge 4 metre long computer controlled model of the cliffs and includes lighting, wind and fog effects.

Flight Over Beachy Head

Enter our green screen video studio and fly past the Beachy Head Lighthouse, over the white cliffs and round Belle Tout lighthouse, without ever leaving the ground. Choose your method of flight from a broomstick or a hot air balloon. A download of your video is included in your admission fee.

There's so much to get hands on with in our interactive gallery, from discovering how a lighthouse flashes and identifying their unique characteristics, to learning how GPS Sat Nav works. Whizz around Beachy Head at our digital map table or send messages in Morse Code or with Semaphore Flags to your friends or family across the room.

Temporary Exhibitions

An ever changing programme of temporary exhibitions and events take place in the visitor centre throughout the year. Whether it is a selection of interactive exhibits from the Animazing Classic Children's Television Collection, an exhibition by local artists, or a new and exciting themed exhibition, there's always something new to come back for.

What's more, you can come back any time within 6 months for half price.

Your admission includes access to the Beachy Head Trails app and a series of guided trails, each with clues to find and questions to answer. Before you leave the visitor centre be sure to grab today's Trail Code at the end of the Beachy Head Model presentation, or the Lighthouse room.
